Protein Water Recipe With Raspberry, Lemon and Clear Whey Protein
A homemade protein water with clear whey protein, raspberries and lemon, with USDA numbers per glass and an honest look at what studies say about protein drinks and fullness.
Ingredients
- 30 gwhey protein isolate powder, unflavored or clear, about 1 scoop; check your label
- 2 cupcold water, 16 fl oz (480 ml)
- 1/4 cupfresh raspberries
- 1 tbsplemon juice
- 1/2 cupice, for serving
Instructions
- Mash the raspberries. Put the raspberries and the lemon juice in a shaker bottle or a jar and mash them well with a fork, until the berries are broken down and the juice is pink.

- Shake in the water and the powder. Pour in 1 cup (240 ml) of the cold water first, then add the protein powder, so it does not stick to the bottom. Close the lid and shake for 20 seconds, then add the rest of the water and shake again.

- Strain and serve over ice. Pour the drink through a fine strainer into a tall glass of ice to catch the raspberry seeds. Drink it right away while it is cold.

Notes
- Use cold water. Hot liquid can make whey clump, so never mix it into a hot drink.
- Whey comes from milk, so this recipe is not for anyone with a milk allergy. A powder made from another protein will change the numbers on this page.
- Powders differ a lot from brand to brand. Check the label for the grams of protein in one scoop and use that instead of the USDA figure if they are different.
